sketch

Hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) is a viscous, colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It is an ideal solvent for dissolving polyamides and esters, and can be used for analyzing nylon. Normally, a small amount of sodium trifluoroacetate can be added to the eluent to reduce sample aggregation. Although HFIP has a certain viscosity, its boiling point is very low, and it usually needs to be analyzed at 40 ° C to reduce the back pressure of the chromatographic column. Hexafluoroisopropanol is also a highly polar solvent, which can cause the calibration curve obtained by the mixed column chromatography column to become nonlinear. Therefore, Agilent has developed a special chromatography column for this solvent - PLHFIPgel chromatography column, which has a porous structure that is not affected by the solvent.

purpose

Hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) is a novel fluorinated compound that is a highly polar solvent that easily mixes with water and many organic solvents. It has good thermal stability and excellent transparency to ultraviolet light. These characteristics make HFIP an ideal solvent in many polymerization systems: HFIP is used as an intermediate in medical drugs, can synthesize inhaled anesthetic sevoflurane, and is also an intermediate in the synthesis of agricultural chemicals; HFIP can be used as an electronic solvent cleaner; HFIP can dissolve a large part of polymers, such as polyester, polyamide, polyacrylonitrile, polyacetal, and hydrolyzed polyethylene ester. Due to these properties, it can be well applied in analysis and used as a regenerant for polymer reuse.
