Brief Description:

HFE-449 is an environmentally friendly hydrofluoroether fluid. It is a colorless transparent liquid, nonflammable, nontoxic, noncorrosive, and leaves no residue upon evaporation. Its ozone depletion potential (ODP) is 0, and its global warming potential (GWP) is approximately 33 (CO₂ = 1), meeting environmental regulations. The product features high density, low viscosity, low surface tension, low dielectric constant, excellent insulating properties, and good material compatibility. It is widely used in precision electronics cleaning, heat transfer cooling, insulation, and solvent dilution.

APPLICATIONS:

1. Precision electronics cleaning: Used to remove particles, fingerprints, oil stains, and flux residues from precision components such as hard disk heads, mobile camera modules, image sensors, and PCB circuit boards. HFE-449 evaporates without residue and does not damage delicate parts, making it ideal for high‑cleanliness applications in semiconductor devices and medical equipment.

2. Leak detection and airtightness testing of electronic components: Used as a leak detection fluid or airtightness test fluid for sealed components. Its low surface tension allows penetration into tiny gaps, and its high insulating properties prevent short circuits during testing. Widely used in chip packaging, sensors, relays, and other devices.

3. Heat transfer and cooling fluids: Used in single‑phase immersion cooling systems for data center servers and high‑performance computing clusters to efficiently remove heat and reduce PUE; serves as a heat transfer coolant in semiconductor dry etching, wafer testing, packaging, and other processes; also used for insulating heat transfer cooling of high‑power electronic devices such as IGBT modules and power converters.

4. Insulating fluid: Acts as a non‑conductive insulating medium for high‑voltage transformers, switchgear protection, and immersion testing of electrical equipment.

5. Solvent and diluent: Used to dissolve and dilute fluorinated resins (e.g., PTFE, fluorocarbon coatings) to improve coating processability; used as a co‑solvent in lithium‑metal and lithium‑sulfur batteries to help form a stable solid electrolyte interface layer, suppress lithium dendrite growth, and improve cycling stability and rate performance; used as a diluent for fluorinated polymer solvents in anti‑fingerprint coating processes for smartphone screens or optical lenses; also used for efficient degreasing and precision desoldering of metal parts.

6. Specialty solvent: Used as a reaction solvent in synthetic chemistry, e.g., for the synthesis of fine chemicals such as insecticides containing trifluoroethyl ether structures.

STORAGE CONDITIONS:

1. Due to volatility and degradation characteristics, store in a clean, dry, well‑ventilated area. Keep in a tightly sealed container, store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.

2. Recommended normal storage temperature: 6°C to 35°C; avoid freezing and exposure to high temperatures.

3. Separate from incompatible materials such as strong bases and strong oxidizing agents.

4. The storage area should be equipped with spill containment and appropriate collection materials.

PACKAGE:

1. Common packaging: 25 L, 50 L steel‑plastic composite drums; 25 kg, 200 kg steel drums; or 250 kg plastic‑lined drums.

2. Other packaging forms available upon request.

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:

HFE-449 is a colorless transparent liquid with a slight ether odor. Boiling point: 72°C, density: 1.53–1.54 g/cm³ (20–25°C), vapor pressure at 20°C: 13 kPa. Very low viscosity, surface tension: 13.0–19.0 dynes/cm, excellent wetting and penetration. Nonflammable, no flash point, chemically inert, compatible with most metals, plastics, and elastomers. Dielectric constant: approximately 5.82 F/m, dielectric strength >40 kV, excellent insulating properties. ODP = 0, GWP ≈ 33 (CO₂ = 1), environmentally friendly. Immiscible with water, partially miscible with alcohols, hydrocarbons and other organic solvents; commonly used as a solvent for fluorinated polymers. At high temperatures (>200°C) may decompose to release toxic gases such as hydrogen fluoride; avoid overheating. Under normal conditions, it exhibits good chemical stability, low toxicity, and environmental safety.
