Brief Description:

o-Fluorobromobenzene is a light yellow transparent liquid containing both bromine and fluorine. Through selective coupling reactions, it can be used to construct complex molecules, making it an important building block in organic synthesis.

TECHNICAL INDICATORS:

≥99.5%

APPLICATIONS:

1. Pharmaceutical intermediate: Used in the synthesis of analogues of the antidepressant fluoxetine; also used to prepare key intermediates of the anti‑inflammatory drug flurbiprofen. Example: palladium‑catalyzed cross‑coupling at the bromine atom while retaining the fluorine atom as an active pharmacophore.

2. Pesticide intermediate: Used to prepare benzoxazole fungicides and herbicides, e.g., reaction with thiourea to give substituted benzothiazoles.

3. Liquid crystal materials: Introduced as a fluorine‑containing rigid side chain into negative dielectric LC molecules to lower viscosity and raise the clearing point.

4. Organometallic reagent precursor: Can react with magnesium to form a Grignard reagent (2‑fluorophenylmagnesium bromide) for nucleophilic addition to synthesize chiral alcohols.

STORAGE CONDITIONS:

1. Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated area, in a flammable materials storage zone.

2. Keep container tightly sealed; store in a dark, well‑ventilated place away from ignition sources and heat.

3. Separate from oxidizing agents and food chemicals – do not mix storage.

4. Ventilation systems should be equipped with static electricity grounding.

5. The storage area should be equipped with spill containment and appropriate collection materials.

PACKAGE:

1. Sealed glass bottles or plastic drums, with outer wooden packaging.

2. Other packaging forms available upon request.

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:

Boiling point: 155157°C, flash point: 43°C, refractive index: 1.5331.535. The bromine atom is highly reactive and can undergo crosscoupling reactions such as Suzuki, Heck, and Sonogashira; the fluorine atom is relatively stable. Insoluble in water, soluble in most organic solvents. Irritating to skin and eyes; gloves and goggles required when handling.
