HS Code: 2903999090
Molecular Weight: 132.08
Structural Formula:

Brief Description:
1,2,3-Trifluorobenzene is a colorless, transparent, flammable liquid. As a fluorinecontaining aromatic intermediate, it is widely used in the synthesis of fluorinated pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals.
TECHNICAL INDICATORS:
Items | Result |
Appearance | Colorless transparent liquid |
Density | 1.28 g/mL (25℃) |
Vapor pressure | 56.1 mmHg (25℃) |
Purity (%) | ≥99.8% |
APPLICATIONS:
1. Pharmaceutical intermediate: Used to produce 2,3,4‑trifluoronitrobenzene, a key building block for quinolone antibacterial drugs such as ofloxacin and levofloxacin. Also used in the preparation of antiviral agents (e.g., the fluorinated benzene fragment of laninamivir).
2. Pesticide intermediate: Employed in the synthesis of fluorine‑containing diphenyl ether herbicides and insecticides, for example, the preparation of benzoxazole insecticides via nitration‑reduction‑cyclization.
3. Liquid crystal materials: Introduced as a polar side chain into liquid crystal molecules to enhance dielectric anisotropy, used in fast‑response TFT‑LCD formulations.
4. Organic electronic materials: Used in the synthesis of electron transport materials or hole‑blocking layer substrates for organic light‑emitting diodes.
STORAGE CONDITIONS:
1. Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated area, in a flammable materials storage zone.
2. For long‑term storage, refrigerate at 2–8°C; ensure good ventilation or exhaust during handling.
3. Keep container tightly sealed, separate from strong oxidizing agents – do not mix storage.
4. Keep away from ignition sources and heat; do not use spark‑producing tools or equipment.
5. The storage area should be equipped with spill containment and appropriate collection materials.
PACKAGE:
1. Sealed glass bottles, plastic bottles or steel drums, with outer wooden packaging.
2. Other packaging forms available upon request.
CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:
Boiling point: 94–95°C, flash point: –3°C (extremely flammable), refractive index: 1.4230. The strong electronwithdrawing effect of the three fluorine atoms makes the benzene ring highly electrondeficient, favoring nucleophilic substitution (especially at positions 2 and 4). Unstable in the presence of base; at high temperature and strong base conditions, fluorine atoms may undergo hydrolysis. It is highly flammable when exposed to open flame or high heat; store in a cool, wellventilated area.
